Up to our elbows in apricots. 50+ lbs.
My good friend, J came over today to help can all of them. I gave her a gift of apricot jam last year, and she's been looking forward to making more for months.
At last tally there were 32 various size jars of apricot jam, 6 trays of apricot gummies dehydrating, 5 quart bags of diced apricots in the freezer for future use and 2 trays of halved apricots freezing in a single layer for smoothies. Phew!
J knows me too well. After a long morning of canning she Did. My. Dishes. I love her to pieces. She knew that if she left them in the sink they would still be there tomorrow. Possibly even next week. That's a true friend for you.
While we canned the kids went outside to play. I snapped a few photos of them cooling off while we sweltered over the hot stove.
Working hard now to enjoy it later...
Simple Mama

ReplyDeleteWow, that's amazing! You go, mama! I did quite a bit of canning Sunday myself, but not quite that much. :) You will definitely enjoy the fruits later.
ReplyDeleteLooks good adn those kids are just too cute.
ReplyDeleteOh that looks soooo delicious! Can't wait to hopefully make some b4 the summer's end- YUM!
ReplyDeleteBUMMER! I keep coming back to your blog so I can listen to the song "I Am No Mermaid" but you took it off :(
ReplyDeleteBUT! You have so many other beautiful songs... I'm listening to them now.
ReplyDeleteWhile I was pregnant, I used to listen to the mermaid song over and over. I wanted to buy it on iTunes, but it's only available by buying the whole soundtrack to Message in a Bottle. ;( I used to sing it and wanted to play it out loud to my baby girl now that she's here. ;)
Kristen - For some reason about half of my songs have been deleted from my player - I'll try and find some time in the next few days to see about getting them put back on.
ReplyDeleteawesome :) thx :)
ReplyDeleteoh boy....you can never have too many apricots!!! love the photos and your projects!
ReplyDeleteI just did pressure canning for the first time! Tomatoes. They were floaters, but it worked anyway. It does make a mess though.
