Girls Weekend

A delay again in posting. Two weeks ago Super Hubby and The Little made a play date for the entire weekend, sans Mama. Where was I you ask? I had a play date of my own scheduled at the beach - with two of my dearest and longest friends from my childhood.

Unfortunately, I came down with a serious repiratory infection just as the weekend was drawing to a close and it's taken me nearly all this time to get well enough to feel like posting about that fabulous weekend.

The weekend had been in the works for nearly a year. A time for us to get together, relax and enjoy ourselves. A time for just the girls - who have shared much in our lives. Marriage, divorce, children, life, death. After a short delay the morning our adventure was to start we were finally off to Lincoln City, Oregon. Here are just a few photos from our weekend - I didn't take as many as I would have liked. I was using a new camera which I wasn't used to, and I just was feeling off all weekend...the start of the virus that was trying to grab hold.

My girls - K and J. K (left) and I have been friends since my junior year in high school. J (right) and I have been friends since 1st grade!

We spent most of Saturday on the beach of the Siletz Bay trying our hand at crabbing. We caught probably 40-50 crab, but most were too small, or female. I finally caught one near the end of the afternoon that was the right size and a boy to boot! Yes, we ate him.

Yes, he was the most delicious $66 crab I've ever had the pleasure of dining on. (The cost after purchasing the crab trap, bait, gloves, line, and license)

We drove into Newport the following day and spent some time hanging out with the harbor seals and enjoying a boat ride while trying to spot whales. Sadly, the fog was thick enough that morning that no whales were seen, but we had fun nonetheless. I missed my girls before they even left that weekend. We're already planning the next girls weekend next summer. An annual event? I sure hope so.
