Preserving Autumn

We've had a busy week preserving autumn to last all season long in the form of craft projects.

First we went on an acorn hunt:

Then we needle and wet felted colored wool roving to glue into the acorn caps for vibrant rainbow acorns!

Then we needle felted a tiny pumpkin:

Next we collected fall leaves in the most beautiful colors we could find and pressed them between the pages of our cookbooks:

We took those leaves and dipped them in 100% pure beeswax melted on a double boiler over the stove to preserve them. We placed them on wax paper to dry.

We took some of our acorn caps and turned them into little beeswax floating candles:

Then we floated the acorn candle caps and leaves in a bowl of water.

I even lit one just for you!

Yours in this season of gorgeous autumn color!

  2. This is so cool! I've never seen leaves dipped in wax before. We have cans of dipping wax, so I think this will be on our list of things to do this fall! I love your blog and I'm going to start following it. :) --Jennifer www.syrendell.blogspot.com
