It's Halloween!
It's Halloween
-Jack Prelutsky
It's Halloween! It's Halloween!
The moon is full and bright
And we shall see what can't be seen
On any other night.
Skeletons and ghosts and ghouls,
Grinning goblins fighting duels,
Werewolves rising from their tombs,
Witches on their magic brooms.
In masks and gowns
We haunt the street
And knock on doors
For trick or treat.
Tonight we are
The king and queen,
For oh tonight
It's Halloween!
Tonight we carved pumpkins. Easier said than done when one parent is down with Swine Flu and the other is trying to corral The Little. I had grandiose plans for my giant pumpkin this year, but it became apparent very quickly that my stamina was just not where it needed to be for an all-evening-pumpkin-carving-extravaganza. I settled instead for a more abstract pumpkin, holes punched any which way with an apple corer. I rather like the way it turned out.
The Jack-O-Lanterns were a clearance find at one of our local home goods stores a few years back. We don't always use them, but this year, with our carved pumpkins a bit on the sparse side we decided to plug them in. I still think they are darling, real or not.
I hope you all have a wonderful, safe and fun Halloween, however you choose to spend it.
Samhain blessings to you and yours!
Simple Mama
Blessings to you and your family also. I like the apple cored pumpkin - nice work.
